WordPress Media Library Content Freeze for File Migration

We want to inform you about an upcoming update that will significantly enhance the performance, stability and security of our WordPress web.unc.edu network.

Digital Services will be implementing a file content freeze from August 8th, 2024, at 5 PM until August 9th, 2024, at 9AM to facilitate the migration and optimization of our current file structure.

During this period, we kindly request all site administrators to refrain from uploading or updating any images or files to the media library. Regular content updates, excluding images and files, are permissible and will not be affected by this freeze.

This migration is a crucial step in optimizing our network’s performance, and we greatly appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

Please note that this update applies only to websites on our web.unc.edu network. The med.unc.edu networks will be migrated at a later date, to be announced. Tarheels.live will not be affected.

We will provide updates on the migration status both on the ITS Status page and through notifications within the WordPress Dashboard. Our aim is to minimize the duration of this freeze, and we will keep you informed of any developments.
